Columbia River Sunset
The Columbia River in British Columbia must have many stories to tell, its strength and power etched into every stone it has touched over centuries. Standing on its rocky shoreline, it’s impossible not to feel the immensity of its force the way it sculpts the landscape, carving pathways through ancient granite, shifting boulders as though they were pebbles, and polishing smooth the stones that rest along its banks.
In this image, the river glows under the quiet hues of twilight, its surface reflecting the soft pinks and purples of the fading sky. The rocks in the foreground, fractured and weathered, reveal the raw dialogue between water and earth a reminder that nothing here is static. Each line, crack, and curve tells the story of time, persistence, and transformation.
When photographing this river, I am in awe not just of its scale but of its quiet resilience. The river adapts endlessly, reshaping itself while leaving behind a tapestry of textures and colors that speak of endurance and change. In these moments, with the air cooling and the light softening, I feel like more than an observer I feel woven into the fabric of the place itself, as though nature is allowing me to glimpse both its present beauty and its timeless memory.
